Hong Kong Style Coconut Tarts / Mexico Buns
In this class you will be learning how to recreate two of Hong Kong's classic treats. As you may well know, a trip to a Hong Kong bakery is one of everyones guilty pleasures and both the HK style coconut tart and Mexico bun are no acceptation to the rule.
At the end of class you will take away 6 Mexico buns and 4 HK style coconut tarts which you will create from scratch.
We will be sharing our secrets on how to create the sweet shortcrust pastry tarts, that are filled with a light, slightly sticky sponge-like coconut center and topped with maraschino cherries. In addition you will learn how to make a Hong Kong style sweet bread that you will shape into buns and top with two different flavoured cookie toppings: chocolate and vanilla.
